Temitope Fashedemi Permanent Secretary
Mr. Temitope FASHEDEMI is the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The Ministry is responsible for implementing Government policies in the Agricultural sector and overseeing the activities of various Government Agencies established to achieve Food Security in Nigeria.
Mr. Fashedemi previously held position as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power from September, 2022 – December, 2023. He also served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Police Affairs from October, 2020 – September, 2022 during which period he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund (NPTF). Prior to this, Mr. Fashedemi was Permanent Secretary, Special Duties Office in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation where he developed and implemented various reform activities and programs.
He studied at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he obtained his B.Sc. (Combined Honours) in Computer Science and Economics; He also obtained a Diploma in Management at the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He later completed the rigorous Executive MBA program at the prestigious Lagos Business School (2004-2005).
In the course of his working career, he obtained various professional certifications in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Telecommunications, Project Management etc. He also attended International courses on ‘Global Competitiveness’, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ and ‘Oil & Gas Fundamentals’ amongst others. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
Mr. Fashedemi started his career in the private sector, specifically in the ICT/Telecoms industry as a Systems/Network Engineer. Before joining the Civil Service, he had 16 years of industry experience, 10 years of which was in Senior and Executive Management roles. At different times, he was on the Executive Board of various industry associations such as – Internet Service Providers Association of Nigeria (ISPAN), Nigeria Internet Group (NIG), Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).
Prior to his appointment as Permanent Secretary in December 2019, he was Director, e-Government in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy during which period he was a member of the Board of Galaxy Backbone Limited and previously served as a member of the Governing Board of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). He also served as Nigeria’s representative on the Governmental Advisory Council (GAC) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) from 2014 to 2019.
As the Director e-Government in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, he was responsible for driving the adoption of e-Government in fulfilment of the Ministry’s mandate. Some achievements in this role include championing the “Whole-of-Government” approach for the adoption of e-Government, facilitating the development and adoption of the “Nigeria e-Government Masterplan: 2020” as the national strategic document on e-Government implementation, executing various e-Government initiatives, and facilitating the development of a World-class purpose-built “e-Government Training Centre”.
Mr. Fashedemi has interests in Reading, Researching, Problem-solving and Mentoring. He is passionate about Nigeria and firmly believes that the lives of a majority of the Nigerian youth can be improved through the acquisition of ICT skills and productive use of technology platforms.
